Drunk Elephant Skin Care

A few years ago I discovered Skin Medica, it was then that I realized what a huge impact quality skin care products can have on your skin. I have been a skin care junkie ever since. It wasnt until 2 years ago that I even considered ever switching out the products I loved. I became aware that companies still tested on animals. I genuinly thought that this was somthing that no longer occured, I was so niave. Luckily I discovered Skin Medica didn’t test on animals so I carried on using it. When I became vegan they no longer made the cut, I have been searching for medical grade skin care that delivered ever since, but I had yet to find anything that compared.

I’m currenlty in the process of upping my retinol percentage, if any of you have done  this you can relate to the hell my skin has been going through. Add in that it is the dead of winter, my skin has been a flaky, red nightmare. The previous face creme I was using from the Body Shop, (which I will talk about later this week) was doing nothing at all to alleviate this. So I went searching for something of higher quality.

Some things I don’t mind splurging on, skin care is one of them. In the past Id usually spend my money on a good serum, retinol, and a good eye cream. I would go cheaper on the moisturizer as I felt like they did the least in my skin care routine. Until now. Since my skin felt so painful this past month I figured I really needed the extra moisture. So I went online to find a better option , that’s when I came across Drunk Elephant products.

After some researching of the brand, I figured I would order some of their line, I was happy to discover that the company does not test on animals, and some of their products are vegan!

LaLa Retro Whipped Cream

For anyone with,

  • Normal
  • Oily
  • Combination
  • Dry
  • Sensitive skin

Made without parabens, sulphates, or phthalates and is silicon free and is Vegan

“A retro-style whipped moisturizer that rehabilitates, brightens, and visibly firms skin’s appearance while slowly and steadily delivering a dose of moisture throughout the day and night”

This cream is thick and luxurious. All you need is 2 pumps to cover your face, neck and chest. It has a velvety texture and absorbs well into the skin. It leaves your skin plump and beautiful. I have been using this cream for my nighttime and daytime routine. It wears very well under makeup, and my skin has looked flawless since I started using it. This product has solved my difficult Toronto winter weather skin issues. This moisturizer has lived up to its claims. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel

This product is for anyone with,

  • Normal
  • Oily
  • Combination
  • Dry
  • Sensitive skin

Again made without parabens, suphates, or phthales, and is silicon free, and vegan.

“An ultra-hydrating vitamin B5 gel that replenishes nutrients while delivering hydration throughout the day to improve the look of skin texture and tone.”

This product is a gel consistency and soaks into the skin quickly. I used this while on my past trip to Panama, and it was very nice to have a product that was so lightweight, I apply it day and night before my moisturizer. I purchased this before the LaLa cream, the combination of this gel with my previous moisturizer was nothing special at all. It looked good under makeup, but I didn’t notice my skin looking better or notice any significant changes.  In Toronto it’s roughly -10 to -20 so I need products that packs a punch. That being said, once I paired it with the LaLa Cream, I was very happy with how my skin looked and felt. I cant be sure if it is the combo or just the Lala Cream. But I will carry on using it because my skin looks great.

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

This product is for anyone with,

  • Normal
  • Oily
  • Combination
  • Dry
  • Sensitive skin

“A wonder-working luxury facial oil, high in critical antioxidants, to deeply moisturize, nourish, soothe, and rejuvenate your skin while restoring its youthful glow”

I can confirm that for me, this was accurate. immediately putting a few drops onto my palm I knew I would love this oil. It felt thicker than my last oil which seemed so thin and runny. At night time I cake this oil on and because of that I look fairly greasy. During the day I apply half the amount and press it into my skin, and it leaves my skin plump and not at all greasy.

I used some of my Sephora points to get a sample of this oil. It seemed ridiculously over priced, so I wanted to try it out before I splurged. I always use a facial oil as the finishing step to my nightly routine. Again, the oil I was previously using was really sub par and I was missing a quality oil in my life. I placed an order this week for the full size product, $50 for 15 mL or,  $90 for 30 mL.Ouch. But like said, I feel like a really high quality skin care routine is worth the money.

In summary, The LaLa cream and the oil are both worth buying, together or as standalone products. The gel, I suggest buying with the moisturizer, unless you are not in an extremely dry cold climate or don’t have extremely dry skin. Drunk Elephant is definitely a new staple brand for me. 🙂
